PostNumber is your secure, unique digital identifier on Letro.
What is PostNumber?
A PostNumber is the verified identity behind every Letro account. Letro issues it once, at account creation, after identity verification: you scan the NFC chip of your biometric passport in the app and confirm your address. The result is a permanent, non-transferable identifier with a country prefix — for example CH 1234 — anchored to a verified person at a verified address. Because a PostNumber is issued only after verification and cannot be transferred or re-issued, every counterparty in your Letro channel is who they say they are. That is what makes Letro records usable as evidence, and what stops impersonation before the first document moves.
Why PostNumber Matters
Permanent and Non-Transferable
Issued once by Letro after identity verification, and bound to you for good. A PostNumber cannot be transferred, re-issued to someone else or spoofed.
Country-Prefixed and Verified
Every PostNumber carries a country prefix (for example CH XXXX) and is anchored to a verified proof of address, so counterparties know exactly who they are dealing with.
